What an amazing adventure the Watermark Gypsy Cobs had at The Melbourne Royal Horse Show.
Our journey started all too precariously, the float not working in total harmony with the Jeep, and all too soon we found ourselves snaking our way down through Tamworth, already three hours into the journey with another 23 hours to go. However, once we arrived in Mudgee where we would meet up with the stunning Demore Park Samson and travel together in convoy. Things were set right and the balance of the float re-assesed, we set off feeling a great deal happier.
With regular stops to rest up the ponies, water offered, a light feed offered, we finally arrived in Melbourne at 2am on Saturday morning, exhausted but excited, we settled the boys into there stables and tried to get some sleep ourselves.
Saturday would be a complete rest day for all the stallions, they were walked out and llightly lunged to stretch tired muscles, washed and cleaned up. All stallions would be presented for one class on Sunday morning, after that, more resting down time.
Monday was a hive of activity, brushes and grooming equipment flying, harness and bridles carefully put on, once we were totally happy with the overal effect, all three stallions made there way to the arena. The effect those stallions had on bystanders as they walked past them to get to the showring was breathtaking.
The Whistleblower takes Champion Cob with Demore Park Samson standing Reserve Champion Cob. The Whistleblower takes the Supreme Championship Heavy Horse title.
Watermark was thrilled to bits for Featherdale Drums when they saw the first filly born on the 30th December 09 to The Whistleblower. The filly named Featherdale Whistling Dixie is out of a stunning registered purebred Clydesdale mare, Engleson My Girl. The filly will be registered with the APSB - Drum Horse Catagory and is for sale.
Engleson My Girl has been bred back to The Whistleblower for a 2010 foal.
Featherdale Drums is one of the largest breeders in Australia along with Demore Stud.

Watermark will be importing CLONONEEN SAGE from Deirdre and Brian Cash

Wise well beyond her years - this 2007 filly is a real head turner and already has the stamp of a stallion! Sage is out of one of our top producing mares and a half sister to Bumble (Peach x Tumbleweed). We expect her to mature to approx. 14.1hh and if she continues to mature like this then she will be an incredible mare. Sage is by Mike Nash's stallion (Checkity Horse Grandson) and out of Peach who is also Connors bred.
Sage has been bred to Clononeen 007 and will foal down in the UK with Deirdre Cash, Sage will be re-bred before leaving England, the lucky stallion has yet to be chosen...watch out for exciting news on the future prospect.
In the darkness of night, I could here in the distance a crescendo of neighs welcoming the newcomer. Eventually I could here the footfalls of hooves as they get closer and closer to the barn, but not be able to see him, I wait with quite anticipation. The shafts of light coming from the barn sparkles on his tiny nose and the darkest of ears and into my life walks my beautiful new boy Clononeen Double Tumble.
