Contagious Equine Metritis Quarantine Facility – AQIS APPROVED STATION
What is CEM?
C.E.M is a venereal disease in horses caused by bacteria and spread through breeding. Ultimately, C.E.M results in a mare's inability to conceive. Stallions can carry the bacteria, but do not show clinical signs.
After importing numerous horses into Australia, I realized there is a need for a quality C.E.M. Quarantine Station for breeding stock. These horses need a pleasant and relaxed environment to be boarded whilst they wait to foal down and veterinary tests are undertaken.
Veterinary care is provided by Hannah Pope from the Glen Innes Veterinary Hospital with 24hr call out facilities
